Here at CEP, we aspire to help the youth of Belize. To do this, we plan to head to the Caribbean nation on 11 November to 1 December 2024.
While there, for that month, we will be working with organisations such as the Belize Fencing Federation and the University of Belize. With these partners, we will be working hard to introduce the youth of Belize to the wonderful sport of fencing, offering a home through a sporting team to disenfranchised youth, cultivating a positive future for the country's up-coming leaders.
At present, we are partnered with the Belize Fencing Federation and the University of Belize, though we are ever endeavouring to seek out additional partnerships to realise our dream.
To deliver this programme, we plan to work with:
· Belize Olympic Committee
· Local council(s) in targeted areas and community groups
· Primary schools, high schools through-out the country.
We aim to travel across the country, meeting with trusted partners at different educational settings.
In our youth work we will be:
· Coaching young people in fencing
· Doing fencing demonstrations
· Providing motivational empowerment talks, which will promote anti-bullying, how to overcome social anxiety, and aim to inspire young girls to get in to sport.
The team will also be engaging in a number of activities to learn about the local culture.
· Cultural Excursions: Planned trips throughout the country, exposing them to diverse landscapes and historical sites.
· Market Explorations: Ventures around the vibrant local markets, learning about the traditional uses of native plants and spices, gaining an insight into the flavours of Belize.
· Basic Creole Language Learning: Active learning of Creole to communicate with locals and young people.
